Options for Health offers a unique seminar series designed to help consumers take charge of their health and wellness. What follows is a brief overview of the individual talks, workshops and discussion groups. Each topic in the series can be delivered as a two-to-three hour workshop, a one-hour talk or an on-going individual and group needs.
This series is divided into three sections for your convenience:
Tips for Staying in Charge of Your Health – (1 hour only) – specifically focused on conventional medicine
Speaking to Your Doctor (1½ Hours)
Strategies for Gaining Control Over Your Health (1 hour only)
Your Health – Who’s Really in Charge? (1 hour talk – 3 hour workshop)
Increase Your Awareness of and Comfort with Alternative Health (1 hour talk – 3 hour workshop)
Wellness Support Group for Women – participant-driven, facilitated meetings utilizing a variety of assessment tools, discussion and group accountability. Participates will:
Wellness Support Group for Men and Women – Topics would be similar to the women’s support group with less emphasis on women’s health issues.
The Ways of Knowing profile is a 10-question diagnostic tool that can be used to help colleagues understand how each of them makes sense of their world. The similarities and differences in how people view time, their thinking processes, focus of attention, approach to change, environmental preferences and creativity affect how they get along with each other. Administration of the profile, along with interactive training and educational session(s), will:
The profile is the backbone of a 45-hour educational and training program that includes communication skills training, perspectives on morality, understanding and dealing with conflict, constructive problem-solving and dealing with difficult people. However, the profile is a stand-alone segment of the training and can be administered and discussed in one session or over a series of four sessions. The number of sessions attended correlates with the participant’s ability to integrate the material and use it to affect change in their working environment.
